Latorre to enjoy dream Le Mans run
After making his Australian Prototype Series debut at Sydney Motorsport Park earlier this year, Andres Latorre will be heading overseas to fulfil a lifelong dream.
The New South Wales based driver will team up with South Australian Garnet Patterson for the iconic Le Mans 24 Hour’s main support category event, the Michelin Le Mans Cup ‘Road to Le Mans’.
Backed by Revere Coffee and a number of other sponsors, the duo will go up against a host of impressive LMP3 and GT3 cars in the Revere Racing prepared Adess LMP3 car.
The car is the same one that Latorre raced during the only APS round of the 2021 season thus far, steering it to an outright round top 10 finish.
It’s been a long road for both Latorre and Patterson, who have completed a plenty of test days at The Bend Motorsport Park in between to continue their development, and Lattore was thrilled their dreams would soon be achieved.
“It has been my dream to race at Le Mans since I was a child,” Latorre said.
“With Garnett, we started this project two years ago with the goal of racing at that incredible track and event, so to be entered in the Michelin Le Mans Cup this year is the next step in that journey.
“My mission is to be competitive in what is an extremely competitive field and show what our Aussie team can do.
“I’m really proud to have an all-Aussie line up this year.”
The duo will get into action on Wednesday 18 August with their first and only practice session before qualifying and the first of two 55-minute endurance races takes place on Thursday 19 August.
They will then complete their final race on Saturday 21 August, just ahead of the 89th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.
