AUSTRALIAN PROTOTYPE SERIES ANNOUNCES NEW 2026 MANAGEMENT TEAM TO DRIVE SUSTAINABLE GROWTH
The Australian Prototype Series today announces the appointment of a new management team for the 2026 season, marking a significant step forward in strengthening the long-term viability, professionalism, and competitor experience within prototype racing.
Respected motorsport operator Wayne Williams has been appointed Chief Executive Officer and will oversee all business operations, commercial partnerships, and the strategic direction of the Series.
As CEO, Williams will be responsible for ensuring APS is financially viable, technically robust, and positioned as an accessible, cost-effective and competitive platform for Australian prototype racers.
Williams’ expertise over 20 years includes team management, roles on technical committees, Boards, and Advisory Panels. From 2018 until late this year Williams also
worked as Operations Manager at Winton Raceway and Head of Operations at The Bend Motorsport Park in South Australia before stepping into the role of Technical Manager of the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series earlier this year.
Managing all technical integrity and development, parity and compliance managers of that series and now APS, Williams has already begun reviewing technical and balance of performance measures in readiness for a busy 2026 season.
To support Williams will be Filippa Guarna, who has been appointed Operations Manager for 2026 and will be responsible for category operations, change management processes, media and stakeholder communications.
Currently also working as Category Manager of the Tyrepower V8 SuperUte Series, Guarna brings a wealth of international category management experience and an impressive history of restructuring and redeveloping multiple series across Australia, the Middle East, and South Africa. Her broader professional background spans sports brand management, communications, governance, and motorsport and automotive journalism, and has been the driving force behind the revitalisation of the V8 SuperUte category since 2022.
As two highly respected motorsport leaders who already work closely together, their combined decades of experience reflect a shared commitment to supporting grassroots racers and creating a stable, well-governed environment where competitors can focus on racing, development, and enjoyment of the sport.
“The Directors are excited to have a person of the calibre of Wayne Williams and Filippa Guarna on board, and to support Wayne as he invests the appropriate resources, energy and creativity to drive real and sustained growth,” a series Directors statement said.
Further announcements regarding the 2026 Australian Prototype Series calendar, partnerships and competitor engagement initiatives will be made ahead of the upcoming season.
