Capo claims pole
Praga Racing ANZ’s Ricky Capo has claimed pole for the opening race of the GC Marine Australian Prototype Series.
Capo set the pace early in the Saturday morning qualifying session, before Ready Set Reline’s Ryan Godfrey took provisional pole halfway into qualifying.
Capo was then able to hit back, taking pole by less than four-hundredths of a second ahead of Godfrey.
On the second row are two familiar faces, with Jam Motorsport’s John Paul Drake ahead of former series champion Oracle/GC Marine’s Jason Makris.
First Focus’ Peter Carr was the first of P2 runners in his Radical SR3, ahead of Champions Business Growth’s Stephen Champion and RA Motorsport’s Bill Medland in the class battle.
In the P1 class, Paul Trengove was on pace, first in class and seventh outright.
GH Garage’s Dyson Song was one of the big improvers from practice, setting the 10th fastest time on his Prototypes debut.
The GC Marine Australian Prototypes Series will enjoy its first race at 11.50am on Saturday morning.
Two races follow on Sunday, with the third race broadcast live on Stan Sport as part of the Shannons Motorsport Australia Championships coverage.
